FAQ
General
What is Studio Molin?
Studio Molin is a Los Angeles ceramic studio creating handmade ceramic dinnerware, serving pieces, drinkware, and home accents. Our work is made for chefs, hospitality spaces, and homes that value thoughtful form, everyday function, and handcrafted character.
Where is Studio Molin based?
Studio Molin is based in Los Angeles, California, and our work is handmade there using California-sourced clay.
Who is behind Studio Molin?
Studio Molin is led by ceramic artist and designer Selin Diktas. The studio’s point of view reflects her design background across Istanbul and Rome and a practice shaped by both European design discipline and Japanese ceramic technique.
What kinds of pieces do you make?
We create handmade dinnerware and tableware including plates, bowls, serving pieces, drinkware, and select home accents. Some forms are quiet and minimal, while others are more sculptural and tactile, but all are designed to elevate use at the table.
Are all pieces exactly the same?
No. Because each piece is made by hand, subtle variation in glaze flow, edge softness, surface, and finish is part of the work. These differences are a natural part of handmade ceramics and not considered defects.
Product Use & Care
Are Studio Molin pieces made to be used every day?
Yes. Studio Molin’s pieces are designed to be both expressive and functional, with forms intended to hold up to real meals, real service, and daily life at home.
Are your pieces made for restaurants and hospitality?
Yes. We work with chefs, restaurants, and hospitality partners to create ceramics that support the rhythm of service while adding distinct character to the dining experience.
Are your ceramics dishwasher safe or microwave safe?
Care details can vary by item. Many current product pages include practicality-focused care details, including dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe flags on select pieces, so we recommend checking the individual product page before purchase and use.
Custom, Restaurant & Hospitality Orders
Do you offer custom tableware or hospitality projects?
Yes. Studio Molin works on custom tableware, signature plating pieces, and hospitality collaborations. If you are interested in a restaurant, hotel, or other hospitality project, please contact us to start the conversation.
Do you offer wholesale or bulk ordering?
Yes. Bulk, hospitality, wholesale, restaurant, and commercial orders are available and may be shipped differently from standard retail orders.
Will bulk or hospitality shipping rates show at checkout?
Not always. For restaurant, hospitality, wholesale, commercial, and other bulk orders, shipping may be arranged separately and may not appear on the website at checkout.
Is there an extra shipping charge for large orders?
Orders containing more than 24 pieces may require an additional freight surcharge. This surcharge is determined after the order is placed and is separate from any shipping amount collected at checkout.
Are custom or bulk orders returnable?
Custom, made-to-order, special-order, and bulk hospitality or commercial orders are final sale unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Ordering & Shipping
What shipping methods do you offer?
We currently offer USPS Ground, USPS Priority Mail, and USPS Priority Express where those services are available for the destination and order size. For bulk or hospitality orders, we may ship by UPS or freight carrier instead.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. We offer free USPS Ground shipping on qualifying orders of $100 or more. The threshold is based on the order subtotal after discounts and before tax, and applies only where USPS Ground is available.
How quickly do you ship orders?
Orders are typically processed and shipped within 1–2 business days. We strive to ship within 1 business day, and in some cases the same business day, though expedited processing is not guaranteed.
Do you ship to P.O. Boxes?
No. We do not ship to P.O. Boxes. If a P.O. Box is entered at checkout, or if we are otherwise unable to ship to the address provided, the order may be canceled and any captured payment will be refunded to the original payment method.
Are delivery dates guaranteed?
No. Delivery dates shown at checkout are estimates only. Once an order has shipped, transit times are determined by the carrier.
Do you review orders for fraud or address issues?
Yes. To protect customers and Studio Molin, orders may be reviewed before shipment. Orders may be delayed, held, limited, verified, or canceled if they appear suspicious or inconsistent, including mismatched billing and shipping details, unusual order patterns, or unverifiable payment information. We may also require shipment to the verified billing address or signature confirmation for certain orders.
Returns, Exchanges & Damages
What is your return policy?
We accept return requests within 30 days of delivery for eligible items that are unused and in new condition.
How do I start a return?
Please email contact@studiomolin.com before sending anything back. Returns require prior authorization and return instructions from Studio Molin. Returns sent without authorization may be refused.
What condition must returned items be in?
Returned items must be unused, unwashed, in new condition, free of wear, marks, residue, or damage, and returned with original packaging, tags, and stickers if applicable, along with proof of purchase.
Is there a restocking fee?
Yes. Approved returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee, which is deducted from the refund amount.
Who pays for return shipping?
The customer is responsible for return shipping costs, and original shipping charges are nonrefundable.
Can I get an exchange or store credit instead of a refund?
Yes. If you prefer an exchange or store credit, mention that when requesting your return. Gift returns are eligible for store credit or exchange only.
What items are not eligible for return?
Used items, items returned damaged or incomplete, custom or made-to-order items, special-order items, bulk or hospitality orders, final sale items, and items marked non-returnable at the time of sale are not eligible for return.
What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?
Please contact Studio Molin within 5 days of delivery and include your order number, photos of the item, photos of the packaging, and a brief description of the issue. Claims reported after that period may not be eligible for replacement, refund, or carrier claim support.
How should I pack a return?
Ceramics are fragile, so returned items must be packed carefully. If a return is damaged in transit back to Studio Molin because of insufficient packaging, the return may be denied or the refund may be reduced. Using a trackable shipping method and keeping proof of shipment is recommended.
